I recently got a new cpu I7 7700k Kaby lake 4.2GHz, is it normal to spike in temp going from 36-50, also it was spiking on idle going up to 70c. I reapplied thermal paste and its not doing it now, but it jumps up and down. (im using liquid cooling)

So random spikes are find at idle, also when i play games like csgo its around 60c and pubg its around 80c i dont understand, when i first installed it, it never did this.

EDIT what would be a better processor that is intel? a i7 6700k?

7700k is the best for gaming, 2nd place goes to 8700k.
I most definitely would not upgrade/downgrade. 80C is toasty, but it's not over the limit.

Let me launch pub and see what I'm at. Are you overclocked?

I would consider doing this with your 7700K...

Delid it. There are plenty of how-to's and plenty of folks on here who have done this and would help.
Then either get a decent air cooler or an AIO water cooler.

That's pretty much it. That will get you temps under control, and would also leave you the option to do a decent overclock if you wanted to.
