Having just received a Refurbished Prebuilt PC, I'm curious what the basic check list of things to do is?

For example, checking if the various ports work is as simple as trying to use them, but how can I check if everything if perfect with stuff like the HDD, SSD, RAM, CPU and so on?
I assume it's possible to have minor defects that won't prevent the machine from working, so is it possible for me to do a "check up" on these individual components, and if so, how would I do that?

Another example is I'm pretty sure it will come with a bunch of bloatware installed, not to mention the risk (albeit very slight) that whoever was in contact with the machine could have put some shady stuff on it, so should I be formatting the entire thing up front and clean installing windows?

Aside from those things, is there anything else I should be doing before I consider the machine fine, because I only have a 90 day warranty for it atm and just want to make sure it has a "clean bill of health" while that warranty is still active.

As for the PC itself, I picked this up for about $600 total: https://www.cnet.com/products/asus-g11cd-b13-core-i5-6400-2-7-ghz-16-gb-1-512-tb/specs/

Thanks for any help guys.

that's pretty insane for a prebuilt i5 6400, 500gb ssd and gtx 1060 6gb

just make sure you get the fps you should in games using msiafterburner while monitoring the temperatures, and get crystal disk info to get data on the health of your drives. should be pretty much good to go after that.

pre built is not that bad nowdays and a asus should be a good choice..

i would open it up and see if its a asus 1060 and asus motherboard aswell.. and also theck what kinda fans inside, cpu fan, case fans, intake, outake.. if only 1 case fan i would install more

and i would format it, as i dont like pre installed windows.. if u install it urself its easyer to setup as u want, and if u have a better version then home then go for that..

so i would wipe the ssd and hdd, cuz sometimes stuff can be pre installed on hidden partitions aswell, theck out disk management (right click this pc - manage)

u dont void warranty by opening up ur prebuilt.. i opened up a laptop once that i later returned, np

u can open it up dont worry, how else would u upgrade hardisk space, ssd, ram, fans..

BUT, some prebuilt do void warranty if you open them, but thise cases will be sealed and have a sticker on that says void warranty if you open, but its not often u see thise anymore

wrong

https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Tower-PCs/G11CD/HelpDesk_Warranty/

"Warranty invalid if disassembly by end-user or non-ASUS-authorized repair centers."

Soon as you open it it falls under this and you can get fucked.

Just make sure you take the sticker off and put it back on properly
