looks like a guy in pennsylvania who had sex with a 4 year old girl has been chosen as the chief of a fire department
roy moore doesn't look so bad now :mellow:

SPARTANSBURG, Pa. – The mayor of a small Pennsylvania town is standing by its volunteer fire company’s re-election of a registered sex offender as its fire chief.

Chief Roger Gilbert Jr. pleaded guilty in 2001 to sexual intercourse with a 4-year-old girl and is listed in the state’s Megan’s Law database, The (Corry) Journal reported Saturday . Court records show Gilbert is a felon who completed a five- to 10-year sentence for “involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.”

Mayor Ann Louise Wagner says she and firefighters have been aware that Gilbert, an unpaid volunteer with the department since 2010, is a sex offender. He was just elected to his second term.

“I support the fire department and their decision to have him as chief,” Wagner told the Journal. “The firemen have always elected their own officers and that’s how it’s always been done. We don’t question their decisions.”

I would have to agree that the age of the victim, makes this instance seriously fucked up.

However, we and the article don't really know exactly what happened in this instance 20 years ago.
Even though the guy plead guilty, and is now a registered sex offender, we still don't know what exactly happened.

I would think this small town's locals know far more about this than we do. In this case I think we should bow to their read on the situation.

pleading guilty to sexual intercourse kinda tells us all we need to know

mind you i don't know much about criminal reform and if this guy can actually do more good for society in his current capacity than he would behind bars then i'd be somewhat ok with it - though i probably wouldn't permit him to be near children

ikr? maybe it was a 'really mature 4 year old' who made these allegations because she 'wanted attention' / is a 'political operative' trying to destroy the poor man's career. you never know these days...

I don't know, and neither does anyone else.
But the first thing that did come to mind was maybe it was some divorce thing, or w/e.

Point is, I don't think we are qualified to even discuss or debate it. I'm sure the local town people know all about it, and they don't seem to care.
We are only seeing what some Canadian newspaper or w/e had to say about it.

I mean I can see how the article came to be. Slice of life story and someone finds a sex offender link on the internet.
Even the article itself didn't seem to take sides, they just reported it.

Did the 4 year old just make the rape up because she's ashamed she got caught? Was she dressed provocatively?
