well now i have a decision to make..

Halliburton is having a job fair here in my hometown needing workers of course.. guess what i am interested

spoke with a recruiter about about going to the event... thing is i can make some good money there

got to work out of town though actually a different state... but i leave for 14 days on schedule.. come home for 7 days

they also train for cdl and i would have my hazmat endorsment... and alot of overtime a week alot of hours... she said *possibly* 15 hours a day..

so if i did my math right that would be 65 hours overtime per week if u work 15 hours a day 7 days a week .. would be on overtime pay by day 3

then again that is ALOT of hours lol... what would u all do ?

ill go check it out anyways doesn't hurt

i would go with them instead of one of those fleets. that hazmat endorsement and experience with hazmat can pay off a lot better than flat bed experience with a mega carrier.

Yeah that's what I was thinking I'll go check it out and see what all they have to offer.

If I don't like what I hear I'll just go to maverick in June if I don't find anything better before then.

The job fair is March 8th so I still got to wait a couple weeks

if you could find people that actually drives for the places you want to potentially work for youre gonna get way better info about what its really like. just remember theyre gonna sugarcoat everything to make it sound way better than it is. but sometimes you just have to deal with the bullshit and get your experience that will carry you into something better.

Trucking will never be 100% automation whoever said that above is dead wrong. Ive driven truck here in Canada hauling logs and oilfield equipment offfroad mostly and a computer driven truck wouldn’t work.

self driving trucks will only work on interstates and stuff im pretty sure none of the mega carriers believe it can do more than that. i wasnt even bothering with responding to that comment i think hes just trying to troll and get an argument going.

Yeah I can’t imagine a robot jumping out of the truck in knee deep mud or snow and tossing on tire chains 😂

It's a good thing the military already has unmanned offroad vehicles, or I would look like a total idiot right now.

Trucking will be 100% automated.
Sure, your niche sector might take longer than the rest, but it WILL be automated.

50 years ago they said the same thing about automation.

Now some cars are built using 100% automation.

Whatever you guys have to tell yourself to feel comfortable about your dead-end career.

I hope you're all going to retire within the next 30 years.
