Middle finger gesture is first mentioned in ancient Greece and is 2500 years old.
Modern use/meaning of the finger was popularized in North America. In like the late 1800s or something. An ad started previously, still doesn't make sense to be in the movie if you are trying to claim 100% isolationism. The entire culture in the movie is built in the back of random North American and African bullshit that Wakanda shouldn't give two shits about.
Plus the culture of Wakanda is still extremely Savage and tribal despite all this technology? Technology that has supposedly been advancing for thousands of years? Not only should black people find that insulting because they are basically saying "no matter the level of technology black people will still be savages" but it is also completely fucking idiotic to think that culture wouldn't change and develop alongside technological advancement.
