What's a great sub for an IB setup in the 8-12" range?
It's going into the ski-pass of a convertible, so it should hit hard but clear enough with top down.
sub + amp, willing to spend around the $1500 range, give or take a couple hundred. (best bang for it's buck)

Trunk would be idealif you get a system up and try going and are able to move the sub around you will notice the trunk facing backwards sounds best it acts as a port like a sub box. The sounds in a convertible will go through the roof and sound won't bounce back
