I agree with this. It also opens up slippery slopes. What if an Islamic practitioner does not want to treat people of the opposite sex? What if a religious person sees certain diseases as "God's will" and refuses to treat them? These beliefs exist in religious communities and by opening up the medical world to this it opens up an entire can of worms.
I mean, male circumcision is a controversial subject ethically, to say the least, but is still performed by many medical professionals in the USA.
And a practicioner who has objections to abortion can just choose to not work in a clinic that performs them. Afaik they're not performed in hospitals without serious danger to the well-being of the mother.
