Although I agree with OP that in a perfect world, where everyone was well informed, a referendum system would be better than a republic.

Everyone has to be well informed, and even if this cannot be done in a perfect way, this should be more important than political strategies that leaves the voters without any real influence

Yes, there are countries where referenda are more present in the political sphere (Switzerland for example), but even then they still have full time politicians to represent the people in parliament.


@ bolded, the average joe can vote for Donald Trump when they understand how much no influence they have on a regular government, is it really better ?
