the fact that hoto is useless in staff doesn't mean you can't made it.

You can easily find a +3 FB staff from Drognan (Act 2) and socket it yourself. He can probably sell them with 4 sockets but it has to be rare.

The reason why players do not make it is because staves are 2-handed weapons and you can equip a weapon and shield where you get more stats out of a caster.

You can buy +3 FB white staff in A1,2 and 3 in normal. (You have to be clvl 19 or below in A3)

They will never have more than 3 sockets if they're grey, but can be socketed to 4 sockets if white.

A rare staff would never have more than 2 sockets, and you can't shop rare items of course.

I can see a great use for a 2 socket fb staff for leaf early doors, but not sure it's ever really worth it to make insight or memory in a 4 socket one.

No. You cannot shop 4s whites.
You can shop whites up to ilvl 20 in a2 norm, but these cant get 4 soc, neither larzuk, nor cube.

All Battle and Gnarled staves can get 4 sockets at any ilvl. They cannot spawn with 4 in normal, but they will get 4 from Larzuk and 50% if cubed. The socket table for these is simply 4/4/4

Shop a white war staff from Ormus in A3 (must be clvl 19 exactly to do this), and it should get 5 sockets from Larzuk. Socket table is 5/6/6
