Haven't played this game in 4 years. I grew up with d2, and just decided to return to d2jsp and Diablo!

I know there's a ladder-reset coming up in 2days (3am my time, which is 13th) - but I'm too eager atm to wait!

I'm obviously going to play the ladder, but figured I'd try to get a sorc going tonight/tomorrow for funsies =)

However, I'm not sure how the state of the game is. Last time I played, there were always tons of diablo/baal/diabaal-runs going for me to hop on to. How's the state in regards to that? If I were to have a char boosted today, would I have difficulties finding runners in hell? And how would this differ from nonseason to season?

When you're coming back from a 4year break, you don't really have any characters remaining (or accounts)

So how do you suggest I check out how the state of hellruns are?

Like you I came back not long ago. What I've found:

-Spambots gone -- good
-chatfilter bans -- would be good if it wasn't a state secret on what gets you banned.
-90% of run bots gone -- not so good if you like runs
-Multiple ban waves over the past year-- would be good if Blizz wasn't damaging the remaining player base like they are/gave some kind of indication on what is getting people banned (looking at the name buyers)
-Only 1 or two big private channels left -- mainly because blizz is killing ops bots and the chat api they put out sucks donkey balls

there will be plenty of people playing in the coming months due to the ladder reset happening tomorrow

east is more populated than west, and europe is active as well, but I'm not sure how it stacks up against east

Is there a way to Check on how many Players were active in their respective regions over the course of each Ladder Reset?

Living in Germany, however If EU is dead compared to east, i'd start on east.

After a week, some ladder bits such as hc classic ladder will still have characters level 2-3 on them but even on EU it's not all bots.
If softcore I guess East is doable, ping probably ~125 or so, played there a lot certain years when back playing.

Eu is still very much alive , compared to asia and west
East is still number one on player base and has higher prices which is why im always playing it even though im from eu
