I don't think the will of the people is a good justification for this action. Especially as Holocaust denial is closer to an african tribe's taboo for witchcraft than actual intellectual debate. No one is allowed to question anything from the top down without being shouted down. I mean, i remember a time when the range of deaths was ALWAYS listed in literature based on the many estimates. This seems about right considering you have some liberal/progressive societies/movements to equate that speech can be contrived as the same as real violence.

So the jump to "thought crimes" or crimes for having views that are wrong or opinions that are distasteful is an easy jump to make.

I find myself becoming more and more cynical even though I don't like to be when I look at the current political climate. It's always been in some ways driven by populism and demonization of your opposition. Or to some degree social control through liberal or conservative spectrum's but social media and the way people are developing their ideology now just results in societies in which you have left end of the spectrum vs the right continue pulling further and further away like a rubber band and eventually the band will breaks coming back on everyone.

It isn't worse. They should all be jailed.
