They ran a perfect course of hyping it up. There's runes dropping in that footage, siegebreaker ripping that barb's head off and shit. Just like the pvp arenas, just creating hype and nothing made it into the final game.

Seems like it would actually have been the D3 we've been waiting for. Why in god's name would they remove the runes though. Runewords were such a cool thing in D2. it all just doesn't make sense to me and is really depressing tbh

Yeah, I understand the current state of the game and stuff especially in comparison to D2's legacy. However, I just don't understand why some of these things were actually removed/changed, when D2 players loved them. It just doesn't make sense to me why would they even do that. Some people say "Activision, etc, casual players, etc". However.. let's be honest D2 wasn't for "casuals". The game worked fine for casuals if you wanted, but it also worked for hardcore aRPG players too (which was the majority, when I played AFAIK). So again, i just don't get it. Sorry for repeating myself, it's just fucking sad lol..

Like, for example PvP. Did they not realize how fun it was on D2, and how fun it currently is today still? Even after almost 2 decades? Especially LLD?

There are just so many things

Games shit. Development had no balls. Or confidence in their own product. A whole lot of oh shit well let me change that for the players went on. Made the game shitty.
Game was hard and had open trade. Not bad overall 8.5/10
Patch the game and was made easier. Reduce attack speed and dodge %s and ramp up drop rate and remove trading. Now games a 3/10

Game was developed by WOW scrub developers who didn't understand why D2 was still popular twenty years after the release.
