How does this affect VPNs? Could my ISP just shutdown traffic I send through a VPN and try to force me to send my data through them un-encrypted?

depends on what the isp wants to do

Considering the loss of neutrality only concerns U.S

If your VPN isnt a business partner of your internet provider; you may experience problems.
On the other side, if you are going on a U.S website and if the provider of your VPN isnt a partner of the website, you may experience problems too
On the top of that your Provider can also decide to de-prioritise VPN traffic (globally).

Hmm i think this scheme is exponentially favorizing the larger businesses/corporates/entities. (no bitching)

edit: the problematic is bidirectional and multinodal

looks like the free market oriented fcc is hacking away at support for internet services in rural/poor areas

one the one side of this issue we have people who believe that everyone should have access to the internet
on the other side of the issue we have people who believe they shouldn't have to subsidize the internet services of people who can't afford it - oh yea and they probably love comcast

where do our resident pardians stand on this issue :o ?

Government-protected monopolies aren't free market. Fuck anyone who tries to say they are.

Yeah I'm not a fan of eliminating net neutrality.

This.

All these telecom providers rake in big subsidies to expand and improve their networks and crush the competition. But when us taxpayers want them to be used fairly, like the public goods they are, they fight tooth and nail to resist it.

Sad!

what does imploding into chaos have to do with something not being a right?
