William the Bastard, Louis IX, Turenne, Rochambeau... There's a hell of a lot of great French military leaders. They fucked up just about everyone in Europe during the high middle ages and early modern period.

Not saying I agree with it just sayin it's well known.

first you (a brit) stand up for french military prowess and then u miss a blatant child predator joke? are you having an aneurysm? better pre-call the ambulance so u can get on the waiting list for your socialized emergency room.

1 - Didn't miss it. I chuckled.
2 - The French wouldn't be what they were during the middle ages and early modern period without the English. We basically made them.
3 - Contrary to US propaganda on socialised healthcare I can, in fact, call an ambulance and be in the hospital within half an hour. Less if it's really urgent like a heart attack or something. Also, unlike in the US, I won't then have to remortgage my house and sell my children into slavery to afford the enormous bills that come with privatised healthcare. It won't even cost me a penny.

Average American cost of a trip to the emergency room (not including ambulance) - ~$1500
Average cost of a trip to the emergency room in UK, including ambulance - £0

Life's good man. I'm glad we're civilised enough to consider it a basic human right.

does the aristocracy get a special hotline number for preferred care or do you have to slog in with the plebs?

you've got it made over there if you're sick a lot. as i havent been to the doctor since i was 12 for anything medical (18 was last visit for the required physical to play sports) it wouldnt be as good for me. I actually have a Cadillac insurance plan that i dont use.

'b-b-but i don't need it atm, so why should i care?' is not even a good argument against grocery shopping, let alone affordable health care...

quote me if you want some action, as ive told you.

i have the option to not have insurance, it would save me money. i'm not making an argument for no healthcare, simply stating that over the last 10 years i'd objectively have lost money on having healthcare given how my life has panned out.

then again if i was in Europe i'd face far more danger given the collapse of your society at the hands of 3rd worlders. i probably wouldnt even be able to go outside for the fear id feel.

I'm in the same boat. Doesn't make it a good investment to have gone without though

if i had any sort of bad health issue it would be entirely different, and my wife saves insane amounts because of her thyroid issues. i'll be happy i have it if i ever break a bone or something, but in my entire life ive never had a broken bone, torn ligament, or any other major health issue. besides an acid reflux case that OTC meds handle with no issues. #blessed

I'm a pretty poor student lol. I 'slog in with the plebs'.

Going to the doctor semi-regularly is always a good idea even just for checkups. Just 'cos you feel fine doesn't mean you are and catching something early can mean the difference between living and dying. In the US that costs money. In the UK it's free.

I imagine it's one of the reasons the US lags behind the UK in life expectancy.

Ten minutes after getting rid of your insurance you're going to stub your toe, fall down the stairs and break your ass and legs.

i get a free checkup with my insurance every year, regular doctors visits are only 20$. i also get a free pair of glasses and free exam yearly. its only free in the UK for freeloaders. there's no such thing as a free lunch. although you guys have undeniably lower costs when itemized, so its not free but cheaper for sure.

i think the life expectancy comes from better immune systems bolstered by germ exposure from centuries of bad dental hygiene.
