I've never owned a Mercedes so I may be slightly bias, however I feel like Tesla took a lot of things from the Mercedes with this one especially with the gear shifter and sensor beeping (nearly identical).
I think the best luxo barge w/ Mercedes at the moment could easily be the CLA class or even the new C Class coupes if you're into the sporty look.
Elon and the Tesla team did an amazing job with the interior though and really mastered the futuristic look - the interior reminds me of spacecraft at night
The drive on the Tesla can be slightly annoying compared to a Mercedes but in my honest opinion all of the "luxury" features within this car resemble Mercedes.
