Remember his argument that net neutrality stifles innovation and competition? (it doesn't, but let's pretend it does for a moment) his next act is to stifle innovation and competition with the lifeline act. That's the program the FCC started under Reagan to subsidize communications services (which has been expanded to cover broadband) for low income families.
He overturned the rule that allowed more providers to get involved in the program to help drive down costs and improve services for everyone.
Evidently, less competition and providers means that it will "better reflect the structure, operation, and goals of the Lifeline program."
He also wants to make it so the only companies that can provide for the subsidy, have to own their own facilities, which would eliminate 3/4ths of the providers on the market.
So essentially his plan will drive up costs and drive down the quality of service. Yay team.
