It is the most well known option and it is kept up to date so it is a good place to start for beginners.

Many other options are not well known, not kept up to date, specialize too much in a single field (forensics, networks analysis, etc.), or are just plain sketchy. Installing an OS full of tools written by hackers is one of the fastest ways to compromise yourself :)

True, but shouldn't you start from the ground up?

Ubuntu > arch > black arch running in a vm was my approach at learning things :) now I just use slackware mainly or arch/i3wm with a basic arch install in vm with some programs to mess around with :)

wifite is a gui for reaver and aircrack ...

The gui stops handshaking after so many ssl failures opposed to if you just use reaver which will cycle until you tell it to stop or the password is cracked. Your suggestion is like saying, a car that has a full tank of gas vs. one with a half a tank are identical.
