ye and it shows it's slightly better in gaming if not equal. lol
not a fan of asrocks, but u just need a mobo to run the 8400 right now and no plan of OCing, so this seems like a solid deal $139CAD after MIR which is a steal as it's cheapest right now and it's ATX size.

shitty thing is the 8400 is going up in price as i predicted
the 212 evo should fit np

I'm in the same situation, except not upgrading, need to build a machine and i've set my eyes on the 8400 since the previews...
I wonder if the z370 is actually worth or i should wait for icelake and hit the real breakpoint

im only recommending coffee lake as a possible option to friends who dont even have a desktop atm and want one within a few months at most. It's Skylake with 6 cores which is pretty good but I've got a feeling we're finally getting a new arch next gen (even if it's still built on the PIII core)

even with the 2 extra cores i dont see the new i5/i7's being a worthy upgrade from older ones, especially anything already on a ddr4 platform...
I actually maybe could for people on really old hardware like sandy bridge if I had even the slightest confidence that what comes next will be the same socket. But it's just a holdover for the real breakpoint like you said.

It was still a step in the right direction though. Before Coffee Lake there was just no way i could recommend anything Intel offered to anyone while Ryzen existed.

yeah, if the new 50-70$ mobos come out, definitely pair it with an 8400. will be fucking amazing

ima just wait for that to upgrade. although,it could be argued if you wait that long, why not just wait for icelake.. but i still believe if you can cheap 8400 that is the RCP (recommend customer price) w/o shitty sites like newegg price inflating it, paired with a cheaper $60 mobo. it will be golden
