Hi,

Today i heard this, was suprised...

Is is really not allowed at all (even if done safely etc) to collect RainWater in some states (i means from the roof, in small tank) ?

Did i missed something ? Why ???

It's the state claiming it has the right to the natural resource for which you must beg permission. Stealing rainwater with your roof diverts rain from going into the ground supply that cities sell to the public. Gotta make examples, yo.

Thats part of my question, in terrible socialist-statist France they made laws recently (2008) about safety only, not allowability.

seems you dont understand theres laws to protect citizen, while theres laws to serve something, or someone else ?

What exactly is the government protecting citizens from, here? Rainwater is a pretty pure source of water. They're protecting the income they receive from taxpayers by selling that same water back to them.

never knew this. i always thought rainwater had to be purified/clean and that's why they put the law in action

but i could def see your angle where u are coming from

It's partially about public safety/health. Rainwater before the industrial revolution was clean/pure to some extant. Nowadays....???

It's also about money, as usual. Or maybe future money issues, someone perceives.


/e There was a movie I saw that had the line: Laws are written to protect the govt., not you. Or something like that.

Makes sense when you think about it.
