Meat has nothing to do with obesity rates.
It's purely a result of high caloric intake and crazy amounts of carbs/sugar and sedentary lifestyles.
I tend to agree that meat isn't the cause. I've had a barbecue/beer holidays for two weeks. We stuffed ourselves like madmen. Yet all came back home loosing significant weight.
I'm more against consuming meat because we can't sustain a high meat diet on a global level.
/e: sidenote: bbqs do remove a lot of the fat..
