there is nothing bad about a low carb diet, you do realize it is not any better than a high carb diet right..... it is used more because having less carbs makes you crave them less and some have massive issues with overeating carbohydrates. By eliminating a majority of them from the diet they lose this hunger for sugars. sugars and some types of carbs cause a similar response in your body and brain as alot of drugs do actually. this doesnt mean one is better than the other its a simple preference some have. Also considering ketosis is a scientifically proven state you can put your body in when consuming minimal carbs i think it merits a better title than simply a fad.
It's considered a fad diet since it's the latest trend diet that people do for a while, lose weight on it, then go back to their normal eating habits and regain the weight. It will obviously work to lose weight just like any other diet that puts you in a calorie deficit. And ketosis gives you terrible breath.
