Did porsche use tire warmers for this test? or are we talking about just racing. Gotta think like a racing team. Takes a lot of heat to get slicks into the right temp, and without those tire warmers, they're just going to waste rubber away trying to heat both wheel and tire up to the optimum temperature.

Rumor is, yes they did. Misha mentioned it in one of the earlier record lap videos, think video #1 of the Porsche record attempt.

oh, i thought the record was for basic stock cars with a cage for safety and that it. But if they can change tires to softer and stickier compounds, then i say fair game for tire warmers.

Most of the production cars are run with whatever tire they come with. That's part of why the C6Z06 carbon was so much faster than the bade c6Z.

Pretty sure even when going for records they still follow the track rules/laws. They have to be DOT approved but semi slick is allowed.

*Even drivers with completely stock/street licensed cars at the 'ring know to check their tire pressures after a few laps. Race teams setting up cars ideally for record attempts is fine, by me.

The Porsche was on Cup 2 tires. You can buy them at Walmart.....

The C6Z Z07 carbon ran the sport cup 2s also. You get about 5 good laps before they start to fall off at most tracks so I imagine you get less than 2 at the ring. That's why they used warmers.
