in general your first goal should be to get to 70 asap. that is when the game actually starts. and that is when gear gets important.

AD = Astral Diamonds = most important currency in game... you can get AD by doing Dungeons/PVP/Skirmishes and selling items on AH.
Zen = another very important currency if you plan on buying things on zen market like VIP/Mounts (Account wide!)/possibly a pack?

I would also recommend getting VIP if you can afford it, it pays for itself with the enchanted keys. (best time would be around thanksgiving they will VERY VERY likely have another sale 40% off so 6 months would be around 3k zen or 1.5 mil AD)
