Pretty much everything would be terrifying to a child. Also, the original was classified as a supernatural horror drama, focusing more on the drama than the actual horror. The miniseries gave a little more emphasis on the clown than the novel did but still doesn't change what I said. Evil dead is also classified as horror, but you're not going to sit here and call that terrifying.

Like I said, it was never really scary horror movie or intended to be one. If you went into it expecting some uber scary horror movie, then it's clear you never paid attention to the source material or previous miniseries. It was a blend of drama, comedy, horror and smidgen of thriller. The newer version had more jump scares, but it didn't take away from the narrative it adapted.

I don't think you can accurately say that this movie was or was not intended to be scary.

I saw this today, and thought it was pretty good. The kids definitely have good acting chops, for sure.

One thing that struck me as a little odd: I thought that Billy didn't get his stutter until after Georgie disappeared. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong.

On a related note, this was my garage door this morning:

He always had the stutter, due to an accident when he was younger (hit by a car) he just stuttered less around georgie. His disappearance and death exacerbated it.

Watched the film last night and I have to say I thought it was great.

I don't think it was "scary" but it was definitely very tense and had a few jumpy moments. The acting made the film for me and thought all of the kids was brilliant and some of the one liners cracked me up.

Fat kid "Derry was a famous beaver catching town"
Glasses kid " it still is am I right boys *high five*"
