If you're still experiencing this issue I believe I could help if you're on Windows. There are some PowerShell recovery methods that have helped me recompile entire NTUser.dat files after 'accidentally' deleting them. I imagine the process in your situation would be the same. If you're on Windows please provide me with the Drive Letter (C:\, E:\, whatever) of where you copied your jpg files to and from. From there I'll write a customized powershell script to help get your data back. This will require elevated Administrator privileges to run.
