Computer I have is a HP Envy touchsmart.
I7 4700, 16 gb of ram, intel hd graphics (4000) etc.
Trying to get it onto an ssd I recently got but it says No MBR found (for installation).
Tried using a virtual ISO then burned it to a disc both failed.
This is what I downloaded and am trying to install. kali-linux-2017-W35-amd64.iso 2017-08-27 01:53 2.8G
Is it because it's trying an AMD cpu?
Help?

I can install ubuntu no problem, just mbr is missing for kali linux in my download files? idk...

Are you installing it as a primary OS or in a VM?

I think it's expecting an MBR formatted hard drive, and yours is GPT.

Primary OS and on a clean SSD with just a partition on it (NTFS file system). Elaborate on the GPT if that's the issue?

I haven't had this happen, so not sure if I can be of any real help.

Does kali boot from the cd? When does the install fail?

Do you even have a boot loader? Did you install grub during setup?

Proceeds to install "Debian" or kali in this game and then says no MBR found.
