Nope. Original one was 100x better. The only off-putting thing in original was how fake Ryuk looks, now he's marginally better but everything is just so bad. From 10 minutes onward I only watched to see how much worse it can get. Spoiler alert: oh boy.

So, my thoughts:

Fuckin garbage... when compared to the manga, original series, and even the original live action.

From an objective point of view, without comparing it to any of the previously mentioned. It was marginally okay. It was not the worst movie ive ever seen, but it was no where near adequate.

well they told everyone ahead of time they were going to completely alter the story.
literally only like 3 things r the same,
1-ryuk likes apples
2-the task force which includes the one agent watching light all get murdered instantaneously by one of them writing the names on a sheet of the death note
actually maybe those r the only 2 things.
but what really ruins the quality of this as a movie in general is just the poor choice of lines. and bad acting.
lots of the lines in the movie were borderline cringe-worthy.
like in the scene where he first meets ryuk "it's a good thing you have a pen" the way he said this line is so bad, the acting was terrible.

3- the protagonists name was light

L was a crazy rage nerd who's uncomposed and not very logical.... light is a total spazz with no brain.... both characters were completely different from the original anime or even the original live action. they're supposed to be calm and level headed.. death note was a show about wits and outplaying one another, yet this movie was just coincidence and random conclusions. so stupid.... oh yea don't get me started on how stupid ryuk looks. it's crazy how the original japanese live action had better cinematics.
