It's not entirely ridiculous. The word dimension is used vaguely and in general the ideas of string theories, further dimensions, aND the such are used weakly as calculational tools or referred to by analogy. It's right to think about it, but this field is highly theoretical right now.

String theory is highly theoretical, however, time isn't used as a dimension in just string theory.

Your point being?

All science is theoretical.

Also string theory was more or less validated in recent yeas thanks to Edward Witten and his M theory.

My point is simply that people call time a dimension with little consideration for what that means and poorly draw distinctions between that and spatial dimensions. Furthermore, dimensions past the 3rd act as little more than calculational tools and really aren't particularly relevant. It's buzz word Physics.

I was hoping to learn something if one of you feels otherwise.

That is not true. Theorizing is a very important step in the scientific process but does little more than create primarily weak ideas.

Yes, I suppose all science involves theory, but at a certain point there isn't enough experiment to differentiate between science and faith. This is what the conspiracy nutters mean when they call us gravity priests.

Because of the nature of the univer and our owrception of it, nothing is cwrtain thus everything is theoretical.

You need to just make a master thread for everything you come across.

no, one thread for each subject is much much better
gonna watch these videos
