So, I have played countless hours of D2, which doesnt seem to help me much here tbh
buuut, new to this whole D3 thing, since I stumbled across a group of league friends who play it, always wanted to play group stuff
I got a monk powerleveled, horrible at knowing anything about gear currently
I've looked at a few build guides, not too sure where to begin on how to farm the gear I need
I suppose I could do some more googling, which I most likely will, just looking for a discussion topic as well

That doesnt exactly help when I dont really know where to farm things, idk D2 was simpler

You really only have 2 options

Rift or greater rift.

or bounties, or goblins.

e: or crafting/kadala efficiency choices.

idk im capable of tanking all of hard mode but i do like not nearly enough dmg so kill speed super slow keep in mind this is my first char basically ever ive never played RoS or adventure mode

There really isn't places to farm things. Different areas don't have different drop rates. You just farm the highest difficulty you can efficiently.

There are a few items that only drop in bounty bags. Ring of royal grandeur in act1 and illusory boots in act2 are main ones. Just do all the bounties in adventure mode for that act for those.
