Why do people not play non ladder on hc like they do on softcore?

I've never really knew a reason as too why I mean only thing you can't do is compete on ladder but everything is exactly the same, gear and pvp.

on ladder u can ugprade everything to elite (rares/uniques), u can cube all runes, and there are more runewords available.

Smaller community, so people tend to play all ladder, as that's what the large majority prefer. The NL community would be too small to really be much fun on bnet.

On SCNL, people have built up very long-term chars/accounts with loot you couldn't compile in a single ladder, and there is prepatch gear available. On HC, this doesn't happen to the same extent due to RIPs, removing a big incentive to play on NL.
