One doesn't "get" or "give" AIDS, as it's HIV that is transmissible.
Criminalization laws like this perpetuate ignorance and stigma regarding HIV and increases the likelihood that people will avoid getting tested in the first place, just like the article points out.
Really, it's the semantics of AIDS vs HIV you want to argue?

“HIV/AIDS remains a deadly disease,” Stone, a pharmacist, said in a statement. “Existing law provides accountability of those engaging in unprotected, risky behavior that endangers the life of another.”
This guy has some sense in him.

"While we have come a long way with AIDS, you still have to take drugs for the rest of your life. You still have to bear the burden of the costs of the health care"
And how much exactly is this treatment you might ask?
Quote
The monthly HIV treatment regimen costs range from $2,000 to $5,000, according to the California Department of Public Health
Laws like these are necessary for safety. I'm dumbfounded that the lgbbq community, which is probably the most victimized here, is backing this shit, it's self-cannibalizing, where exactly is the deterrence now?
