Dave Smith's 1 hour comedy special "libertas" is going to be great. I highly recommend people look into this guy's podcasts "Part of the Problem" and "Legion of Skanks."

He is 100% correct when he says libertarianism is the greatest political philosophy ever devised by man.

I know his most famous thing was "7 Words" but "Modern Man" was one of the most impressive things I've heard out of comedy.

If by greatest you mean one of the worst then I agree.

Fuckin vouch.

The trend of insufferable, unfunny, preachy twats that began with Hicks needs to end.

Yep, there just isn't a good replacement for George Carlin. :(

Dave Chappel is pretty relevant.

Unless his stuff in the past 5 years is vastly different than what he did when he started, he's a budget Chris Rock. While both offer social commentary, neither did so on the level of Carlin. Both Rock and Chappelle were/are (not sure how active they have been in stand up recently) black observational comics; Carlin was a social/political/relibious observational comic. Rock and Chappelle talk about black issues and race relations (primarily), while Carlin focused on society as a whole and politics far deeper than either (in his later years).

Well Rock is one of the greatest comedians of all time so that's not too much of an insult. But Chappelle is also one of the all-time greats. I've never been a fan of comedic social commentary except when it's done masterfully anyway. Chappelle is just funny.

Carlin's best work is before he became a preachy libertarian drug pusher. He is maybe the GOAT in terms of preparation and writing and presentation. It was more performance art than comedy.

Fair enough.

He's my least favorite comedian of all time.

He's what you get if you take Amy Schumer and make her even less funny.

We need more mitch hedbergs and steve hoffstetters and less hicks and carlin wannabes.
Only person who does political humor i enjoy right now is jim jeffries.
