This is exactly the concept in play. Paying people a whole bunch of money to do useless things is not productive or economically sound.
They could surely slash a lot of 'defense' spending without harming actual military capabilities.

A very expensive form of welfare even, if you'd not increase instability around the world -> Increase the market.

They aren't perfectly good though because they cost more $$ to treat than the average soldier. ED medication helps MORE people (likely retired personnel) so there is more utility there. Maybe we can give soldiers better condoms or a free coupons to McDonald's with the money we're saving. It seems like it would help more people.

I really don't understand why we have to cater to 0.3% of the population at the expense of the rest of the population. That doesn't seem democratic.

I don't disagree with the statement in general. We always have to balance the wishes of the majority and the rights of minorities. To me, I don't think the rights of trans folk are being infringed upon in an egregious way.

My rights are being infringed upon. They don't have to serve in the military if a draft is instituted, lucky pricks.

Uhh.. shouldn't we ban every soldier that has any kind of a treatable condition then? Every treatment comes at the expense of the rest of the population. Should we determine the average healthcare cost of a soldier and start discharging any that go over? We'll end up with a perfectly healthy army and massive cost savings, right?
