A really good, albeit somewhat short, sci fi book I've really enjoyed is The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect. It's available freely to read (and in print / ebook if that's your thing); definitely give it a read if you're interested in the technological singularity.

I would say Asimovs Foundation trilogy! The original, and the second. The rest of the series is also good but far not as great as the first and second trilogy. Later he tied his Robot, Empire and Foundation books together, so if you want to dive deep in a detailed universe, then you must read it
