I totally understand if your saying other years have been better because there has been better years, hell I'd probably argue 2007 was better then this year (so far anyway). 99 like you mentioned is better and I'm sure more are as well but that doesn't mean this hasn't been a great year so far

If you are arguing ased on total number of great games released in a specific year then you actually can't do much better than 2017. If you are trying to argue 'x year is when the best game ever came out' then you are an idiot not worth talking to. Either way you aren't giving any reason as to why you think 2017 isn't a fantastic year for gaming, and you probably won't because you are one of those people.

I'm sorry but I have to completely disagree. Games now are superior. Nostalgia is blinding as fuck. Today games are really embracing the 'form of art' tag and giving us phenomenal stories matched with engaging gameplay. Older games don't come anywhere near the level of story telling that today's games have.

Maybe I'm biased but as I grow older I more and more favor games that mesh story and gameplay into a fun, immersive, and potentially emotional experience, and I look less and less for twitchy bullshit generic action crap.
