Boston would still be the 4th best team in the West at best

The White Mamba will strike hard.

Alas, if Houston hadn't hired D'Antoffense and if they didn't pick up CP3, I don't see why Boston couldn't beat them.

The top of the West is just loaded to the brim. The Spurs don't have an *overly* impressive roster but when you have Kawhi and Pop, it's like having 5 All-Stars. The East was catching up to the West (except for GS) until this year. The East just got backtracked. That doesn't make Boston weak. They just aren't unfairly loaded.

Boston and Cleveland are the only two teams in the East that are competitive, and with the exodus of Paul George, Jimmy Butler and Paul Millsap, 3 playoff teams from last season are considerably weaker. The East is still a joke, despite the improvement that Boston made.

We're making the same argument, but you're saying the East is still weak, whereas I'm saying it was gaining in relative strength until the events we've been outlining colluded to bring them back to where they were (or worse) before the east started making some gains.

The future of the East might be with the Bucks or Philly for all we know. Boston is the present, and probably Cleveland this year.
