NYT did a pretty clear setup in that interview with the way too conspicuously specific question about Mueller. They knew from a leaker that Mueller was probing Trumps business dealings related to Russia, so they asked him if it would be a red line if Mueller looked into unrelated business dealings, of course he says yes since thats the definition of a fishing expedition. The next day they release the Mueller leak and every media rag conflates it with Trumps response, losing thd nuance of 'related to Russia'. Now the headlines read "Trump set a red line and Mueller crossed it"
