you dont have to actually make a reply to their post you could just hit like on their post

user gets a notification someone liked the post
have a like counter on each post and other users can see who likes it

cut down on unnecessary spam while giving users another option to interact with each other

If you like something and the thread is open for discussion about you being able to like it then by all means show them you like it like you would in the trophy room sections.

however i do think a gilded post feature would be cool (only through $, not fg)

I have seen this suggested and denied too many times to count, and I've always wondered why people want this feature?

There are no big companies running advertisements here, and hopefully there never will be.
Think for a moment what Facebook uses our "like data" for. That kind of data is useless on a site like d2jsp.
