Or like he said the high gold trades are flagged for investigation. People trading $100+ worth of gold for items worth nothing its pretty fishy and then they look at the chat logs between those players to see the discussion that took place for such a large trade.

do you think a trade of a low amount of gold be caught? like under 1k or something? Or even just enough silver to buy a mount?

Doubtful, but I honestly dont know. 2k gold comes with lowest supporter pack so I don't think that would raise any flags.

The method used for detection had nothing to do with in-game chat. They monitored accounts that had no activity but trading gold and blindly banned everyone they traded with.
