So Ive been trying to save and sell some shit to buy a Car in November. I currently have a C5 Vette that I will probably sell to help fund the new car. If I go on the Cheap end (like a 2002 BMW M3) Ill keep the Vette, but I assume itll be gone.

My goal when I started this was a Lotus Elise. Ive always wanted one, passed on one like 6 years ago for $30k that I kind of regret doing so. But since the savings have started, Ive started to float all around on cars. Going from a

Lotus Elise to pretty much looking at all of the following
Lotus Evora
NSX
Viper
Cayman S
BRZ
2003 Modena until I saw the Repair Costs (also would be a 2-3 year project, would aim to get for my 30th bday)
Boxster
M3
M4
640
H2 (found a listed one that the Mirrors were above my wife, kinda liked it lol)

So I really have no Idea what I want. I have a truck that I drive all winter, Ive put MAYBE 5,000 miles on my Vette in 2 years. Maybe closer to 4,000 Miles.

I dont have kids, clean driving record so insurance isnt that bad, and I speed on occasion, I dont do it often enough that i worry about getting caught.

Anyone have experience with any of these cars? I like the Idea of a New 2016/2017 on the BRZ but at the same time dont want to pay for a new car, would rather save and buy used, but that brings me into other cars in the price range.

I would love to be in the 25-30k range, but would consider venturing to $40k usd. But I dont really want to go past 40, unless I really find a deal, or end up with more money than I hope to have by November.

Im trying to stay away from 50k+ miles on the car as well.

Main Wants are but not deal breakers-

Convertible (or Removable Top)
Manual 6 speed

Mmmmm most of these cars are going to be associated with high repair costs if it came down to that.

A brz fits the bill as being fun, small, light and driver focused, but it won't suite you as being as quick as any of the cars listed, although you can drive it well in high rpms and push it easily at higher speeds. I don't know where you live, but I paid 28k for a brand new brz limited in 2014.

A new RF Miata would be awesome, but that's buying the new route. That's a bit more expensive than a new brz.

Again depending on where you live, you can ( or I can ) find plenty of M3s for the 20k range with Around the same mileage you're looking for.

You would be surprised that paying for a new car isn't really that bad, especially if it's one that has been sitting on the lot, and you sign the last few days of the month.

I feel like you should just save longer, and buy a new C7 :)

Im in Northern Illinois, so the car will most likely be garaged Nov-March. I usually put it away later than I want, because I go oh its supposed to be 55 next ill wait 2 more week to drive it once... And then I always say Opening Day for MLB Baseball is when ill bring it out, but sometimes I get temped earlier.

Ill take a deaper look into the BRZ, I like the body of them so Ill research some more. As for the M3 I would prefer a 2008+ (I think 2008-13 is the same body, dont remember atm) but I know the Wife fell in love with the M3, I just dont know if I like it top down.

Hoping to go out next Friday or the Following and take a look at like 5-10 cars to get a feel for the interior and such.

A viper would be a cool car to weekend around in. Def a head turner. Are you looking for something fast in a line or something that handles really well?

I would like "Fast N Loud" but Its mostly going to be driven around town, so under 50mph. So like the Viper would be great for 2 gears lol.

Otherwise I want something unique. I don't want it to sit in a line with 20 other cars and blend in, I want something not many have which is why I love the Viper/Lotus idea. Even though they are completely opposite ends of the spectrum.

I think my main 3 I'm looking out for right now are the M3/Lotus Elise/Viper. This way if something shows up Ill keep tabs on it, where as the BRZ is something I can buy pretty much whenever. I can research a little, but isn't that hard to find.

Anyone like the Genesis coupes?

Also, any other places to search?

I use-
Ebay
Cars.com

then a little of
Autotrader.com

and sometimes Craigslist, but these aren't really the cars imo to search for on craigslist lol.

Buy a late 60's muscle car and thank me later. If you keep it nice it will appreciate in value, and even my pos 1987 mustang gt gets heads turning everywhere I go and people talking to me asking about my car every time I stop almost. You can buy a 67-69 Camaro SS with a 427 and blow the shit you want out of the water and be cool doing it.

Hoping to check a few out tomorrow and see if anything drops off the list, or rises up.
