Idk man dropping 400 for the gfx card

how long would this realistically last me?
any other cheaper options to suggest that would last?

Well, like Art said....a used 980Ti. It's just as fast as a GTX 1070

/e Even a GTX 1060 will stomp a GTX 960.

But a GTX 1070 or used 980 Ti, would be a better choice.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. BUT, I know many folks who have bought used grfx cards with no problems. I'd say 90% come out ok.

/e Look what happened already. You got a 960 and it was fine...for a while. Then some new games came out and you want...

"More power!"

This always happens with grfx cards. The game developers are now writing games that are based on the GTX1000 series vid cards.

True. I bought this 960 when I mainly played league though and more recently getting into higher capacity gaming

But yea, I get a little sketched out on buying used anything tbh
