As title states, I'm looking to build a PC for 3D rendering. I'm hoping this build will also allow me to play most games on ultra. VR and 4k would be cool but I doubt it's within the budget. Is the jump from a 1060 to 1070 build worth it?

Budget: Less than 1k

Appreciate any advice.

Yeah the jump is really worth it for 4k and VR.
This would be the bare minimum imo (40$ over budget) https://pcpartpicker.com/list/L9tfBP

Very nice, saving this thank you!

I have been told to stick with Intel over AMD. Is this not true?

You would be kicking urself in the foot.
With budget under 1k, and for 3d rendering Ryzen is a no brainer pick.
I didn't even click the links, but I can guarantee its a Ryzen in there ;) that's how much of a given it is

Still haven't jumped on this purchase.

Is this still my best option?

When will a good time to buy be? With the mining craze, there doesn't seem to be a drop in graphics card pricing....
