Bought a 1998 Saturn SL1 1.9 auto with 167,xxx miles on it. already did a tune up. plugs and wires. have an Alt on the way. (bad when I got it) the only rust is back passenger door. What are your thoughts on this type of car. I mean I only paid 400$ for it. brakes are new all around also.

drive it till it breaks down then leave it on the side of the road

Like Koj Said, treat it like a Cheapie. Basic Maintinace and it should hopefully last a year or two. Once some Major comes up, ditch to a scrap yard.

im going to. I was driving my 3/4 ton chevy 4x4 I sold it and bought this. im driving 25 miles a day to work and back. 125 miles a week. other then the alt I mean this thing is clean. no cracks in the dash. paint is faded and the ac works to boot lol.

don't do any major repairs/maintenance

drop a 350 sbc in it
