tl:dr I want to know everything about fishing!

I've come to spending my regen time fishing, and it feels very productive. I'm about 1/2 way to lvl 2 proficiency (so still just beginning), and I'm interested in how this really works.

When I hit lvl 1, I was able to choose a fishing level. It seems that fishing at lvl 2 with no rod results in a ton of failure. If I equip a white, T1 rod, it feels just like normal. The life/mana ranges seem to be slightly higher, but it's hard to tell. Fish are all still T1. Is this basically all of how that works?

I have seen people mentioning their rods breaking in thread posts, but I haven't experienced this. Is this just a random chance whenever I fish? How does durability effect this? Do you lose durability, or does durability just make it less common to break?

When will I start to see T2 fish? Would proficiency lvl 5 be a good guess, since T2 rods require that?

Thanks for any answers and general tips & info on fishing. :)

Yes, you will see same fishes for a bit.

Tier I fish - prof lvl 1 to 4 -> Tier I Rod
Tier II Fish - prof lvl 5 to 9 -> Tier II Rod
Tier III Fish - prof lvl 10 to 14 -> Tier III Rod

etc.... Remember, even if prof lvl 14 you will still catch Tier I on occasion, all random throughout the levels.

So, just follow that and you should be alright. And durability on the rods will help out a decent amount. But also, dont spend too much on them as they break easy and you will lose a bunch of fg that way.

Cooking

Prof ->1 to 4 -> Tier I fishes
Prof -> 5 to 9 -> tier II fishes
Prof -> 10 to 14 -> Tier III fishes
etc....

As far as I remember that is right, I have not fished in a year.

Edit : Also, fishing in WELLS will help exclude from catching lower tier fish. I think that is only useful for Prof Rank of 15 or greater. I think its like you can only catch up to minus 3 tier fish below your prof level.

I would look at the Fishing Skill ladder and PM the highest users and see what they say.

Thanks for all the info; this is all very useful. I always wondered what the point of fishing in wells was. I kind of assumed it was mostly for flavor.

seems like you had some bad luck on some of those numbers :p

Any additional info on how breaking & durability works appreciated!

I don't like fishing because of the reduction to cooking ranks, but, he introduced Suffucensing which incorporates transmuting/glyphing to combine everything together.
Best way to explain this:

TierI Fish (sardine) = Maximum 100 life or 100 mana.
Cooking (sardine) = 100% enhanced effectiveness on the fish, thus the total =
... 200 life or 200 mana.

Now, the suffucenser has created 100% skillables, and with suffucensing the 200% life or mana fish by 100% = a total of 400 life or mana... yes, these are only Sardines.
Now, the junk fish that people purchase on MP of 250 life/mana fish is just rubbish when they could be 400+... oh yes, these are only sardines.

200% from suffusencing? Seems like a pretty high bar. I don't have a ton of experience, but with 30+ angelic essence, the most I've seen is in the 40% range. Expecting a regular flow of mythical+ for all suffusencing, and the rest is "junk" seems silly. There doesn't seem to be much of a market for the esence, so do you just delete everything else?

On a somewhat related note, I know I've seen a table out there, but can't find it. Do anyone have an image for max suff ranges per tier?

done while an event with 100% more suff efficiency , last october and this january.

the range is not per tier but 20% ee per magic level

mag 20
rare 40
myst 60 and so on

Keep the essence imo, even if they dust. You will always pick godly, epic I or so, just stack them. Someday some rich guy wants to start suff or muting and is lazy so he will pay.

That's what I meant by "tier," just used the wrong word. Thanks for that!

So, that means to even have a chance at 200%, you need T10.
