It's the corpse explosion that is killing him. Just put a Tyrael Might on him so he has the "slain monsters rest in peace" mod to protect his kills. And make sure that you are wearing nature peace bc every monster you kill will explode as well otherwise.

eth upped Gaze + Eth Forty + Eth rare 1 amp on Great Poleaxe base

my merc kills all, only dies for Lilith

I just been using redemption aura and leaving merc at home and it works great now LOL.
