Synopsos: whenever I turn my brand new laptop on, my streaming netflix (roku) lags HARD! I am pretty sure it's due to the windows 10 doing some sort of updates, but AFAIK I have turned all of the auto updates off

Long version: I bought this laptop 3 to 4 months ago and I have only used it for maybe 3 painful hours due to this issue I haven't been able to fix. It's an asus UX330C. I have satellite Internet. My Internet always streams netflix fine through roku, even though it's still pretty bad Internet. I have brought my laptop to a friends house to do all the available updates Yada Yada, but it's still sucking up my Internet. Any ideas?

run on a whitelist policy so as to avoid windows 10 telemetry/update tomfoolery

And make sure it's on the hardware level i.e via your router, it won't do on the os level because microsoft still gets around them.

It's a pain in the ass way to live but it's the only way to stop windows 10's bullshit. Thousands of microsoft cdn and telemetry servers many of which are disguised and hidden, there's no earthly way to blacklist them all.

Thinking you can stop connecting to them just by altering a few os settings is adorable.

Is it possible for you to explain it to me ? I think I know more than the average user but I have no idea what you mean... what do I need to change in my router?

doesn't need a reference point.
We can simply ask what he's paying for and establish if its a connection issue first though.
