Apparently a russian air strike on 28/5 targeted an ISIS meeting in Raqqa which left 330 dead, including 30 officials and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the self-proclaimed caliphate.

Unlike in previous occasions where there have been rumours about Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi being killed without any government backing the claims, this time the russians admitted that it's very possible as they've confirmed he was at the meeting during the bombing, and they are currently in the process of verifying that he's indeed dead.

I guess that could be a huge blow to ISIS in the region. Unfortunately I doubt the death of the leader will stop lone wolves from orchestrating attacks, but at least it would weaken the structure of the terrorist organization.

The thing is killing leadership doesn't actually do much. The people who get things done in organizations are the mid level managers. You can kill as many CEO as you want, unless you take down the "deep state" it won't do any good.
