I was exaggerating to just say what truly happens in the DoD is extremely unpredictable and often so far beyond what we'd imagine. Having been within some of those closed door meetings, I can say you'd be extremely surprised. Some of what people post on here as "ha yeah right, that'd never happen" has already happened. An easy example is a thread here a while ago saying that ICBM ranges from North Korea and other countries is no more than a couple thousand miles. That is so incredibly wrong, but I guess people find it easier to live in denial so they can sleep at night.
The bolded sentence is still mighty dumb. The Saudis would never bomb us nor does anyone with an ounce of common sense think that's why the president "bows down" to them. The president bows down to the military industrial complex which have long decided that the Saudis are an important ally. It's a steady cash flow and for the most part they peddle our foreign policy in the region. More importantly they oppose our nemesis Iran so of course we support them.
