totally understanding you. The game wasn't made for PvP, but the pvp just happened to be great. I'll have to look more into PoE now that you compared the two that way... thanks

I don't think it's safe to say D2 PvP was bad but I'm going to have to agree with GlobalElite here. D2 just happened to have decent PvP, luckily. It's not like they designed anything whatsoever when it comes to fighting other players. You just hit a button turning Friendly Fire on and you fought anywhere out of town... :mellow:

Well they had the systems in place and it was great. Anyone who says D2 PvP wasn't great was either just shit at it, never experienced it in its prime, or is a bitch

luckily?

d2 had great pvp because the devs actually had a decent balance between items and skills. that wasn't luck, that's hard work and was intentional

it took them a while in the beginning, but i think it's very fair to say they ironed most out

why did the community have to make rules for it then?

Hdin, necro and dudu were miles above anything else. Literally 3 viable builds (okay mby perfectly geared bowazons as well).
After community made rules to cap sorb/max res sosos and trapsins became viable

rest were mostly just niche builds V/Ts, ghosts, bvcs and what not
not to mention 99% of builds revolved around enigma and the few that didnt, used bugged mechanics like desynch+wsg

D2 pvp was awesome but it was far from balanced

e/ fuck now i want to play d2 again

Also if you look at Path of Diablo, there's a reason why they changed Enigma.

I mean I'm not bashing at D2 but you can't give them any credit for "hard work" lol. The PvP in the game is literally how I and pyyjypjyyspyyysysyppysys said. You click a button, you go out of town, and you do just like in PvM.
Also, you can't really do shit vs many of the popular builds if you're not that very counter-build.

You and the other kid clearly are garbage pkers on d2

Its very balanced and they did a good job with the pvp penalty
