Personally, I think no S/E really limits your play on a HC toon.
I like playing fast paced and this game (especially on P8) has many situations where you can literally take stairs to next level and be killed instantly by the right archer pack.

E: does it matter ultimately? Play how you want to.

I would agree with the first sentence, but that is not everyone's goal in D2 I guess. Some people really enjoy the farming aspect of D2, and setting up ideal grinders to run efficient runs is the most important thing to them. Others either enjoy farming less or not at all, and they are playing just to play, just to do quests and advance with as little farming as possible. In the case of the second player, he doesn't even care about efficiency in runs and actually wants to do no runs at all. No S/E adds a dangerous and interesting aspect there. I wouldn't say someone is a noob just because they don't like farming.

Statement makes no sense. The game was built on not-farming initially. Farming was this games only "end game" content until they released Diablo clone and Uber Trist.

Not to mention the most popular streamers for this game (and there are very few) are all exclusively speed runners that hardly farm any content whatsoever.
